The CinEuro project

The CinEuro network

CinEuro brings together the main organizations responsible for implementing film and audiovisual policies in the regions of Eastern France, North-Western Switzerland, Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, Luxembourg, Brussels and Wallonia.

Who are the partners

Each partner pursues a cultural policy of supporting the film industry.
Together, via CinEuro, they wish to encourage exchanges between professionals in their different territories, and ultimately, film co-production.

To do so, they have developed common tools:

and set up a whole series of workshops, events, conferences and meetings to enhance the cross-border network of professionals.

CinEuro Film Lab: promoting co-productions based on regional content

CinEuro Film Lab: the new offer to support scriptwriters in the development of film ideas linked to the territories.

Brussels, Wallonia, Luxembourg, the Saarland, Rhineland-Palatinate, Baden-Württemberg, the Greater East and northern Switzerland have a great deal in common, and these commonalities can be brought to life in stories through the characters, the setting, the landscapes, typical geographical, historical and economic features, the relationship with borders, the identity or culture.

An incubator for film projects

The CinEuro Film Lab thus aims to encourage the creation of new projects by finding inspiring subjects right from the writing phase, through

  • visits to emblematic locations or places with high storytelling potential
  • meetings with witnesses and experts on a variety of subjects

In a second phase, authors will receive cross-border support for the development of their projects through

  • writing workshops
  • professionalization workshops on various techniques and approaches

Finally, projects will be pushed towards production through

  • pitch sessions with producers and broadcasters
  • professional meetings
  • participation in delegations of professionals at major film markets
  • Forum Alentours, an annual co-production market in Strasbourg.

The CinEuro-Prize

Since 2023, a financial incentive for project development

The aim of this prize is to encourage the emergence of projects dealing with stories, characters or settings that bear witness to the links between the partner territories in all their dimensions (economic, political, geographical, societal, cultural, etc.).

The CinEuro Prize is awarded annually in two categories for projects in development: documentary and fiction.

History

It all began in 2018, when the German, French and Swiss partners set up the 1st interreg project “Film En Rhin Supérieur / am Oberrhein”. This was the start of an interconnaissance between institutions in charge of supporting professionals in the film and audiovisual sector around the Rhine.

In 2020, the partnership was extended to Belgium, Luxembourg and Saarland with the “CinEuro” project. Two interreg projects ran jointly in the Greater Region and the Upper Rhine until 2022, enabling the partner institutions to form a broad cross-border network.

In 2023, the partners have recommitted themselves to supporting the industry, with the shared objective of developing projects in line with local needs. The CinEuro Film Labs will meet this challenge until 2026!

The financing programs

CinEuro Film Lab is an initiative made possible by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) via the INTERREG Greater Region and Upper Rhine programs.
