The Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst FHNW sees itself as a pulsating hotbed, a cultural-political catalyst and a seismograph that recognizes and defines socially relevant fields in art, design and science, and works on and communicates them in an exemplary manner in theory and practice. On the basis of a differentiated perception and the reflection of its own seeing and understanding, the university sees its role in facing the challenges of the present with a variety of creative spaces for action and professional perspectives.
With seven Bachelor’s and four Master’s programs, the Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst FHNW (HGK FHNW) forms a learning, teaching and research community on the Campus der Künste in Basel. Art, design, media design and interior architecture can be studied at ten institutes. In line with its social mission, the university trains independent-thinking and action-oriented artists and designers.
